Muscat: On Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry initiated a program, aptly named "Your Embassy Hackathon," aimed at fostering continuous innovation and the enhancement of services at Omani embassies worldwide.
Khalid Hashel Al Musalhi, the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, who served as the chief guest at the event, highlighted the importance of this initiative.
He emphasized that the "Your Embassy Hackathon" represents a significant step forward in the efficiency of diplomatic operations, as it elevates the standards of embassy functioning in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.
Al Musalhi elaborated that the program is designed to broaden the application of modern technology by introducing innovative solutions to streamline embassy processes and make them more sustainable.
He noted that the "Your Embassy Hackathon," marking the inaugural event in Oman, showcases the Foreign Ministry's commitment to developing smart embassies that leverage modern technology to enhance efficiency and sustainability in service delivery.
The hackathon serves as a platform for the presentation of initiatives and ideas focused on the application of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), in citizen service abroad and in establishing effective communication channels.
Al Musalhi stated that the "Your Embassy Hackathon" plays a crucial role in the digital transition, cybersecurity, resource management, and digital communication.
The program, scheduled to run until mid-December 2024, has received a positive response from the Ministry's staff and Omani missions overseas.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges, who will announce the winners and selected projects and initiatives at a later date.
