Muscat: The Environment Authority in Al Buraimi Governorate, in collaboration with the Omani Society for Fine Arts, organized the "Green Capture" exhibition.
This exhibition, graced by the patronage of His Excellency Hilal bin Rashid Al Ghaithi, a distinguished member of the Shura Council representing the Wilayat of Al Buraimi, was designed to not only document the wildlife and highlight its inherent beauty within Al Buraimi Governorate but also to encourage environmental observers and photographers to capture wildlife in innovative and creative ways. Furthermore, it aimed to elevate environmental awareness among the local community regarding the critical importance of conserving wild animals and plants.
The genesis of this exhibition can be traced back to a competition orchestrated by the Authority, which spanned three stages. The first stage involved the submission of entries from community members through an electronic link, resulting in a remarkable number of 110 photos, predominantly from students.
The second stage was specifically targeted at professional photographers and environmental observers, leading to an additional 56 entries.
In the final stage, an international jury meticulously selected 20 photos to be showcased in the exhibition of the Omani Society for Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Youth. The exhibition also featured the announcement of the winners of the first three places, alongside the recognition of the best five student works.
The Environment Authority, through the "Green Capture" project, is committed to documenting wildlife across Al Buraimi Governorate and the other governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, while simultaneously nurturing the environmental and artistic talents of the participants.
