Muscat: According to His Excellency Jassim Mohammed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Sultanate of Oman's efforts to mediate between the United States and the relevant authorities in the Republic of Yemen, resulting in a ceasefire agreement between the two sides, exemplify Oman's constructive and effective contribution to regional security and stability.
His Excellency underlined that the Gulf states, through their cautious and balanced policies, continue to work for regional and international security and peace.
His Excellency the Secretary-General emphasized the significance of de-escalation in order to promote regional peace and stability, as well as respect the right to maritime transit in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
