Muscat: As part of its continuing efforts to improve cyber security, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in cooperation with key industry stakeholders, conducted an awareness event at Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport. The event is part of the Civil Aviation Cybersecurity Awareness Program and was themed "A Safe Journey in a Digital Space."
The campaign aims to raise awareness among travelers about safe online habits and to encourage them to safeguard their personal data before, during, and after travel. In doing so, it helps to create a safe and informed travel environment that meets the demands of the digital age.
The event drew great attention from both passengers and aviation professionals. A dedicated awareness booth highlighted the most prevalent cybersecurity concerns that visitors may face, and informative materials were distributed to offer useful guidelines for preserving data security while travelling.
This effort is part of the second edition of the Civil Aviation Cybersecurity Awareness Program, which aims diverse segments of society in accordance with the national goal of improving digital security awareness across all sectors—particularly civil aviation as one of the nation's critical industries.
Civil aviation plays an important role in connecting Oman to the world, facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural interchange. With the industry's increased reliance on technology and sophisticated digital solutions, cybersecurity is critical to maintaining safety, operational continuity, and public trust.
The importance of cybersecurity in civil aviation includes safeguarding critical aviation systems, assuring passenger and crew safety, protecting travelers' personal data, and preserving continual operations.
The Civil Aviation Authority reaffirms its commitment to improving the sector's ability to meet digital challenges in collaboration with its strategic partners, as well as to cultivating a sustainable security culture that supports Oman's digital transformation vision and strengthens its status as a regional aviation hub.
