The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, commemorated World Accreditation Day this year with the theme "Accreditation: Empowering Tomorrow and Shaping the Future". This theme underscores the importance of accreditation in the face of rapid global advancements.
As part of the celebration, Oman inaugurated a branch for the Gulf Accreditation Centre (GAC) within its borders. This branch will play a crucial role in developing a roadmap for the National Accreditation Centre, offering training for accreditation professionals, and facilitating Oman's recognition by regional and international accreditation bodies.
The Ministry is actively working on establishing the "Oman Accreditation Centre" to ensure the quality of products in the Omani markets. This initiative will enable both government and private assessment bodies to uphold high standards.
Moreover, the centre will serve as Oman's representative in regional and international accreditation forums, as well as engage in mutual recognition agreements with accreditation bodies worldwide.
To further mark the occasion, a workshop was organized focusing on "Empowering laboratories to identify the challenges facing the laboratory sector". The workshop aimed to address the challenges in inventorying laboratories, propose solutions, simplify procedures, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to regulate the sector effectively.
