Muscat: The inaugural session of the forum titled "The Role of the Economic Sectors in Localizing Job Opportunities and Local Added Value" commenced at the Oil and Gas Institute on Monday.
This event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Labour in collaboration with the National Employment Program (NPE).
Khalid Salim Al Ghamari, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour, highlighted that the forum is part of the Ministry's concerted efforts to foster economic integration among various sectors and to augment employment opportunities for citizens within these sectors.
He underscored the objectives of the "Tawteen" platform, which is designed to improve the work environment and cultivate national competencies to cater to the diverse needs of different sectors. He also emphasized the critical role of company participation in the platform as a fundamental tool for ensuring transparency and efficiency in employment processes.
The agenda for the first day of the forum shed light on the most significant challenges and issues encountered in localizing job opportunities and local added value. It also explored strategies to increase the involvement of the national workforce and reviewed the progress made in encouraging companies operating within this sector to leverage the benefits of the "Tawteen" platform.
Furthermore, the forum featured working sessions on the importance of employment governance committees within economic sectors and their essential role in facilitating coordination between the public and private sectors to meet the labor market's requirements.
The overarching goal of the forum is to strengthen partnerships among various economic sectors and to highlight the significance of activating the "Tawteen" platform as a means to regulate the labor market. This includes introducing companies to the platform's features and registration processes.
