The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in the Sultanate of Oman has recently declared Adatee Hayatee (My Lifetools) as the inaugural collective of visual artists with disabilities. This announcement coincides with the tenth anniversary of the ministry's establishment and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
This recognition serves as both a tribute and an encouragement for these talented artists with disabilities. It follows a series of successful art exhibitions showcasing their drawings, photography, and woodcarving. The artists proudly paraded their artworks, demonstrating their remarkable abilities.
Laila bint Mohammed al Wahaibiyah, the general supervisor of the group, expressed her gratitude for the ministry's initiative. She believes that this support will enable the artists with disabilities to further develop their skills, nurture their talents, and gain valuable experience.
She mentioned that the group's performance mechanism will be enhanced through training courses, specialized workshops, and participation in local and regional exhibitions. This will lead to the presentation of high-quality artworks and the advancement of their artistic careers. She also emphasized that Omani artists have a deep connection with nature, civilization, and history. The group takes pride in the recognition they have received and the efforts they have made to uplift artists with disabilities. She expressed optimism that these artists can look forward to even greater opportunities in the future.
The group was established in 2014 as part of Omantel's social responsibility initiatives. It aims to showcase the artistic and creative works of talented individuals with disabilities through art exhibitions. The group receives support from various individuals, institutions, and government agencies.
