Environment Authority Launches 'Naqi' Air Quality Index App

Muscat: The Environment Authority has unveiled Naqi (Pure) app, a new digital platform for smartphones that delivers consumers with real-time, accurate air quality index data.

The Naqi app includes sophisticated capabilities such as an interactive real-time air quality map based on geographic location, as well as comprehensive reports on pollutants such as fine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and other factors.

The Naqi platform will be accessible through its website and app for all iOS and Android users, helping Oman achieve its goal of environmental sustainability and digital transformation.

The software uses a color-coded visual warning system (ranging from green for excellent quality to red for dangerous circumstances) to provide rapid and easy air quality evaluation. It also delivers real-time weather data, combining air quality and weather information to improve users' daily planning accuracy. To expand its user base, the platform supports Arabic and English.

The app's debut corresponds with World Environment Day, which is commemorated yearly on June 5th to encourage digital change in environmental systems, increase access to environmental information, and improve quality of life.
