Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has officially announced the completion of the registration process for the 11th National Research Award.
A total of 274 applications were received for the prestigious award, with 167 submissions from researchers possessing a doctoral degree (referred to as PhD holders—first category), and 107 from those without a doctoral degree (referred to as non-PhD holders—second category).
The applications were allocated across various segments as follows: 52 in the health and community service sector; 50 in the environment and vital resources sector; 76 in the education and human resources sector; 43 in the culture, social, and basic sciences sector; 34 in the energy and industry sector; and 19 in the communications and information systems sector.
The award will be presented to six winners in each of the two aforementioned categories:
Category 1 of the award is reserved for the "Best Published Scientific Research" submissions from PhD holders or their equivalents, including Senior Specialists and physicians.
Category 2 of the award is reserved for the "Best Published Scientific Research" submissions from non-PhD holders.
The names of the winners for each category will be announced in December 2024.
