Dust Storms Forecast Over Parts Of Oman

Muscat: The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a weather forecast indicating that southerly winds are expected to sweep across extensive regions of the South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar governorates, potentially leading to the formation of dust storms in desert and open terrains.

Several weather monitoring stations have reported wind speeds reaching up to 34 knots in Duqm and 30 knots in Thumrait.

According to the General Directorate of Meteorology's forecast, the weather will be characterized by a mix of partly cloudy and cloudy conditions along the coast of the Dhofar governorate and the adjacent mountains, with sporadic drizzle and the possibility of isolated rainfall. Clear skies are anticipated over most of the governorates, with the likelihood of cloud formation and isolated rainfall over the Al Hajar Mountains in the afternoon.

Furthermore, the Directorate has mentioned the possibility of low-level cloud formations or fog patches in certain coastal areas of the Oman Sea and Arabian Sea.
