Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development hosted a dialogue session today in Muscat on Women's Leadership Empowerment in Decision-Making Positions.
The session addressed ways to promote public knowledge about the significance of women's participation in electoral councils and emphasize their role in decision-making processes.
The training, which included 70 women members of the State Council, Shura Council, municipal councils, government bodies, and Omani Women's Associations, was designed to encourage female leaders to engage effectively and confidently in electoral councils. It also highlighted the legal, financial, cultural, and media enablers for women, as well as the function of civil society organizations in promoting Omani women's empowerment and participation.
The first session, named Strategies and Success Enablers, addressed knowledge empowerment and capacity building for women in leadership and strategic communication, women's empowerment in the private sector and their pioneering roles, as well as the legal and legislative frameworks supporting their participation in electoral councils and related concerns.
The second session, titled The Role of Civil Society Organizations and the Media in Promoting Women's Participation in Electoral Councils, examined the experiences of Omani women in the Shura Council and highlighted the contribution of civil society groups and Omani Women's Associations in increasing public awareness of women's engagement in the electoral process. The session also discussed The Parliamentary Experience in Childhood and Its Role in Leadership Empowerment.
It is important to note that the session is consistent with the Ministry's efforts to increase women's participation and create a conducive environment for them to make meaningful contributions to development pathways and decision-making.
