Dhofar Municipal Council Approves Action Plan For 2025

Salalah; On Tuesday, the Municipal Council of the Governorate of Dhofar convened under the esteemed leadership of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar and Chairman of the Council.

The agenda of the meeting encompassed a variety of subjects, including the approval of the Council's action plan for the year 2025 and a comprehensive review of the initiatives undertaken by the Oman Broadband Company, focusing on the development of infrastructure to facilitate broadband services across the Dhofar Governorate. This development is aimed at enabling both telecommunications service providers and citizens, as well as commercial and governmental entities, to access services within the framework of the National Broadband Strategy, while keeping abreast of advancements in this domain.

Furthermore, the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning was tasked with an evaluation of the Directorate's accomplishments and the progress of current and forthcoming housing and planning projects within the Dhofar Governorate. Additionally, discussions were held on the proposal submitted by the Governorate Development and Development Committee concerning the establishment of the "Dhofar Dairy Center."

The Council also examined the outcomes of a visit by the Governorate Development and Promotion Committee to the Wilayat of Mirbat, with the objective of overseeing the progress of municipal projects that have been implemented or are in progress, and to deliberate on strategies for their activation to ensure the realization of desired objectives.

Moreover, the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee deliberated on the findings from its meeting with representatives of the Oman Environmental Services Company (be’ah), focusing on the committee's recommendations for the enhancement of waste management services in several of the governorate's wilayats. Additionally, the committee reviewed the company's plans for organizing the waste transfer process during the autumn season.

Lastly, the meeting addressed the outcomes of the Social Affairs Committee's engagement with representatives from Social Development Committees in the states and various charitable organizations, with the objective of exploring methods to organize mass weddings. This initiative is designed to support needy families and alleviate the financial burdens faced by young individuals about to marry, thereby fostering societal cohesion.
