Muscat: The General Directorate of Culture, Sports, and Youth in the North Al Batinah Governorate recently held its fifth annual festival dedicated to individuals with disabilities.
This festival included a range of activities, such as an exhibition showcasing handicrafts and handmade products created by individuals with disabilities from Al-Wafa Centers for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. The event also featured various performances, artistic displays, and entertainment options.
Mohammed bin Ali Al-Farsi, the Director of Sports and Youth Activities in North Al Batinah Governorate, stated that the festival's activities are designed to foster social integration and create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage with their communities. These interactions provide significant learning experiences that extend beyond conventional educational environments.
Al-Farsi also noted that the festival plays a crucial role in enhancing social communication skills among individuals with disabilities, allowing them to gain knowledge, information, and skills that improve their societal participation.
The event was organized in partnership with the General Directorate of Education in North Al Batinah, the Association for Disabled Children in Sohar, and Al-Wafa Centers for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities located in Sohar, Al-Khaboura, and Al-Suwaiq.
