Muscat: Thanks to the involvement of 32 individuals, the Environment Authority succeeded in removing several fishing nets, each measuring around 180 meters long.
The Environment Authority in the South Al Batinah Governorate launched its seventh initiative aimed at cleaning up coral reef ecosystems within the Daymaniyat Islands Natural Reserve.
The Environment Authority reports that this initiative was successful in retrieving several fishing nets entangled among the coral reefs, with a total length of 180 meters.
"This effort marks the latest in a series of wide-ranging environmental clean-up drives organized by the Authority to safeguard the marine ecosystem and coral reefs, involving the Department of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources in the State of Barka, the Sea of Oman Diving Team, and the Al Dhahirah Amateur Team," the Environment Authority further explained.
