Classes Suspended In Some Governorates Due To Expected Rains

Muscat: In light of the prevailing tropical conditions, educational institutions, encompassing both governmental and private establishments across various governorates within the Sultanate of Oman, are to temporarily halt classes and transition to remote learning. This decision was made in response to the forecast of heavy rainfall, commencing in the evening of Monday, October 14, 2024.

The Oman News Agency (ONA) has issued a statement announcing, "The suspension of classes is set for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Consequently, educational institutions will be required to facilitate distance learning for their students."

Furthermore, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has communicated, "In light of the information received from the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards concerning the onset of heavy rainfall, it has been determined that the suspension of study and the transition to remote learning will be implemented in the following governorates: Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, and the mountainous regions of Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and Al Buraimi Governorates."

The Ministry further intends to notify the educational community of the suspension of in-person learning and the transition to remote learning in the aforementioned governorates tomorrow, Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
