Chemical Engineering Research Lab Opened At UTAS In Salalah

Salalah: Today, a new chemical engineering research laboratory was inaugurated at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Salalah, with the esteemed presence of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar.

This laboratory represents the ongoing collaboration between the academic and industrial sectors and highlights the national commitment to fostering research and innovation within the Sultanate of Oman.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the lab features specialized chambers for both organic and inorganic chemistry, a research meeting room, and an applied research station.

During the opening ceremony, a visual presentation showcased the laboratory's features and goals.

Additionally, a cooperation agreement was signed between UTAS and the Dhofar Governorate, facilitated by HH Sayyid Marwan and Dr. Said Hamad Al Rubaie, Vice-Chancellor of UTAS.

This cooperation initiative aims to strengthen partnerships across scientific, social, and developmental areas. It emphasizes the importance of collaboration among government institutions and the development of local talent.

The agreement also includes provisions for training the governorate's staff, offering consultancy services, leveraging UTAS's expertise, supporting research initiatives, and utilizing findings to enhance projects and programs within the governorate.

Furthermore, the cooperation program is designed to facilitate practical training opportunities for UTAS students within local institutions, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and promote collaboration in environmental sustainability, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence (AI).
