Bcci Announces Inr 1.25 Billion Prize Money For T20 World Cup Champions India

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed a substantial prize sum for Team India following their victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday. India secured their second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. The match concluded with India winning by seven runs, marking the end of their 11-year-long quest for an ICC trophy. In light of this historic win by the Men in Blue, BCCI secretary Jay Shah declared a generous prize of INR 1.25 billion for the entire team, which includes the players, coaches, and support staff.

Jay Shah conveyed this announcement through his official account, extending his congratulations to the team for their remarkable accomplishment. "I am delighted to announce a prize of INR 125 crores for Team India in recognition of their victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has displayed exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Heartiest congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this remarkable feat!" Jay Shah expressed on his official account.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had previously disclosed a record prize pool of US$11.25 million for the T20 World Cup 2024. As the champions of the tournament, India is slated to receive US$2.45 million along with additional bonuses, marking the highest amount ever awarded in the history of the competition. Conversely, South Africa will be granted $1.28 million for securing the runner-up position in the tournament. Additionally, teams were rewarded an extra US$31,154 for each match won.
