Awareness Workshops Target Students To Implement Continuous Healthy Lifestyles

Muscat: The Health Committee in the Wali of Mutrah Office, in collaboration with numerous health and community organizations, held the Mutrah Summer Health Forum from July 13 to 17, 2025, at Majan University College, targeting school students in Muscat Governorate, as part of the Wali of Mutrah Office's focus on promoting health prevention and positive behaviors among young people.

This meeting is part of the "Together in Mutrah for a Continuous Partnership" plan, which emphasizes the integration of health and development organizations and entities in order to achieve the ideal of community cooperation in building a healthy and aware society.

This forum features a series of training workshops and awareness seminars spread across five days, involving health institutions, community groups, and volunteer teams to motivate students to live healthy lifestyles and promote early prevention.

On the first day, a team from Khoula Hospital and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority held a first assistance workshop, teaching participants how to respond swiftly to injuries and other situations.

This forum will continue on the second and third days with awareness workshops on chronic and genetic illnesses, oral and dental health, food safety and nutrition, featuring specialists from Al Nahdha Hospital and Al Mina Health Centre. As well as holding a workshop on child protection in collaboration with the Oman Women's Association in Mutrah, and a presentation on the significance of premarriage screening in collaboration with Al Nahdha Hospital, to promote early screening and family planning. The symposium provided skill training for first cycle students to improve their health and behavioral skills.

On the fourth day, attendees will visit the Hospitality Institute in Mutrah for a presentation on good nutrition and a "Little Chef" event. As well as an informative session on smoking and its detrimental effects to promote awareness about the importance of quitting bad behaviors.

The forum will end on its fifth day with a lecture on psychological first aid, an Oman Colors Workshop, and awards for participants and sponsors to recognize their efforts in making the event a success.

The forum featured health corners provided by several organizations. They provide tests for chronic illnesses as well as psychiatric and behavioral counseling. Apart from focusing on elder care and children's rights, to foster health culture among pupils and their families.

Abdul Hamid bin Abdulrahman Al Kharousi, Deputy Wali of Mutrah, emphasized the critical role of community collaboration and productive integration among many health, community, and voluntary organizations in attaining sustainable development and improving quality of life. He stated that the creation of the Mutrah Summer Health Forum is a continuation of the "Together in Mutrah for a Continuous Partnership" endeavor. It seeks to consolidate efforts by bringing together experts and persons who are passionate about health and development in order to promote information exchange and health awareness. As a result, it fosters a conscious, healthy, and cohesive society.

He said that this event represents the Wali Office's goal of encouraging positive values and behavior in young people by developing prevention and early health education to train generations capable of living a healthy and balanced life that benefits themselves and society.

The deputy wali of Mutrah commended the efforts of groups, organizations, and persons who helped make this event a success. He stated that the accomplishments reflect the spirit of collaboration, solidarity, and productive community engagement. He lauded excellent efforts to make Mutrah one of the most modern cultural and healthy regions in the country. He encouraged collaborative attempts to achieve community goals and the objectives of sustainable development.
