At Least 100 Dead As Floods Hit Eastern Democratic Republic Of Congo

Kinshasa: According to the provincial government, at least 100 individuals were killed in floods that swept through the Fizi area in South Kivu Province, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, from Friday night to Saturday.

Torrential rains caused flash floods in the neighborhood of Kasaba, destroying approximately 150 homes, according to a preliminary estimate.

The provincial government expressed significant worry about the increased danger of waterborne illnesses, respiratory infections, and malnutrition in light of continuous heavy rains.
