Muscat: On Sunday, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation announced the opening of registration for the 12th National Award for Research. Applications will be accepted until June 15, 2025.
This award underscores Oman’s dedication to fostering scientists, researchers, and innovators, encouraging them to engage in rigorous academic research that addresses both national and global issues.
The National Award for Research aims to recognize outstanding research published in academic journals, cultivate competitive research talent, enhance awareness of scholarly research, promote the publication of studies in reputable scientific journals, and evaluate the performance of national academic institutions to facilitate their integration.
The award is presented in two categories: (1) Best Published Research, which is open to PhD holders in the medical field or equivalent professionals such as senior consultants and specialists; and (2) Best Published Research for junior researchers who do not possess a PhD. This latter category encompasses areas such as education and human resources, information and communication systems, health and community service, culture, social and basic sciences, energy and industry, as well as environment and biological resources.
Since its inception in 2014, the National Award for Research has fostered significant competition among researchers, with a total of 1,988 papers submitted by the 10th edition. From 2014 to 2024, the award has been conferred upon 127 research papers.
