Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation's Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC) has commenced accepting applications for admission to both public and private higher education institutions, as well as internal and external scholarships, for the academic year 2024-2025. The application period will run from April 1 to June 1.
For the academic year 2023/2024, students holding a General Education Diploma or its equivalent are required to register with the unified admission system on the HEAC website, www.heac.gov.om, and select the study programs they wish to apply for.
To assist students in the admission process, the Higher Education Admission Centre has released an updated student guide for the academic year 2024/2025. This guide is specifically designed for holders of the General Education Diploma (GED) certificate and its equivalent. An electronic version of the student guide can be accessed on the HEAC website and its social media accounts.
The HEAC strongly advises students to thoroughly review the guide, as it contains vital information regarding admission and registration requirements, helpful tips and instructions for the various stages of registration and admission, as well as comprehensive details about higher education institutions, scholarships, and the available programs and disciplines.
The principal has increased the minimum gross income requirement for a student's guardian to RO 792, up from RO 600, in order to expand the pool of students eligible to participate in limited-income programs. Additionally, 1,000 academic seats have been set aside for flexible internal scholarships, giving accepted students the opportunity to select from various private higher education institutions within Oman.
