In the Muscat governorate, Al Amerat recorded the highest temperature in Oman at 48.9°C, while Sur and Zamaim also experienced extreme heat at 48.4°C. Conversely, Dhalkut in the Dhofar governorate had the lowest temperature at 23.4°C, with Shalim close behind at 24.1°C.
Data from the weather website Ogimet revealed that Al Amerat and Sur had the highest temperatures globally, followed by cities in Iran and Algeria. The Oman Meteorology Office issued a cautionary alert for several governorates due to northwesterly winds, including Al Buraimi, Al Dahira, North and South Al-Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliya, Al Wusta, and parts of North Al Batinah and Dhofar. These winds are expected to reduce visibility and may cause dust storms in deserts and open areas.
Motorists are advised to drive carefully and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. Individuals with respiratory conditions should take necessary precautions to avoid exposure to dust, as recommended by the Met Office.
