Muscat: A programming competition organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, in partnership with Sultan Qaboos University, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the Programming Academy, and OQ, drew 194 participants who formed 65 teams from 21 universities and colleges across Oman.
The event presented challenging programming tasks that demanded logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, utilizing programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++. Evaluations were based on the correctness of solutions, completion speed, and the number of attempts made.
After a rigorous competition, the top three teams were revealed. "Enigma" from Sultan Qaboos University achieved first place, followed by "Libre," also from Sultan Qaboos University, in second place, and "Al-Istiqama" from the German University of Technology in third. The winning teams were awarded a total of 6,750 OMR, and three teams were chosen to represent Oman in the upcoming regional programming contest in Egypt.
Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shaidhani, the Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology, commended the participants for their exceptional performance and highlighted the competition's role in fostering digital innovation and developing essential skills for Oman’s economic advancement.
Additionally, the event marked the introduction of preparatory regional contests for the first time, held in Sohar, Nizwa, and Muscat. These preliminary competitions aimed to better equip teams for the main event and expand participation opportunities throughout Oman. This initiative reflects the Ministry’s dedication to discovering and nurturing young talent in technology, enhancing collaboration between academic institutions and industry, and supporting Oman’s vision for digital excellence through innovation and programming.
