Switzerland: The FIH Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024 is set to commence on 24 January, marking a significant milestone for international hockey. This inaugural edition of the Hockey5s World Cup will introduce a fresh format and welcome new nations to the competition. With 16 men's and 16 women's teams from five continents, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and determination as teams vie for the prestigious title of the first-ever Hockey5s World Champions.
Against the stunning backdrop of Muscat, the women's competition will kick off on 24 January, culminating in the finals on 27 January. Following this, the men's competition will commence on 28 January, with the medal matches scheduled for 31 January.
During the draw ceremony held on 3 September 2023, all teams were assigned to their respective pools, setting the stage for an exciting and fiercely competitive tournament.
Women:
Pool A: Fiji, Malaysia, Netherlands, Oman
Pool B: Australia, South Africa, Ukraine, Zambia
Pool C: India, Namibia, Poland, United States
Pool D: New Zealand, Paraguay, Thailand, Uruguay
Men:
Pool A: Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland
Pool B: Egypt, India, Jamaica, Switzerland
Pool C: Australia, Kenya, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago
Pool D: Fiji, Malaysia, Oman, United States
After the conclusion of the pool stage, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals, keeping their hopes alive for the prestigious title of the inaugural Hockey5s World Champions. On the other hand, the bottom two teams will compete for the newly introduced 'Challenger Trophy', which was proposed by FIH President Tayyab Ikram to provide motivation and support to all participating teams. This initiative aims to ensure that all 16 teams, including those making their debut in the FIH World Cup such as Fiji, Jamaica, Oman, Paraguay, Thailand, and Zambia, have an opportunity to strive for success, even if they are unable to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The women's competition of the FIH Hockey5s World Cup is set to kick off on 24 January at 08:00 local time, with Australia facing Ukraine in the opening match. On the first day, all 16 teams will play two of their pool matches, resulting in a total of 15 matches from the Women's World Cup.
