Los Angeles: WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to pin important messages in both one-on-one and group conversations.
By pinning messages, users can easily highlight and access crucial information within their chats, saving them valuable time. This feature supports various message types, including text, polls, images, emojis, and more, all of which are protected by end-to-end encryption.
To pin a message, simply long-press on the desired message and select the "pin" option from the context menu. A banner will then appear, allowing users to choose the duration for which the message will be pinned, ranging from 24 hours to 7 days or 30 days.
By default, the pinned message will remain for 7 days. However, in group chats, administrators have the flexibility to decide whether all members or only admins can pin messages.
In addition to this update, WhatsApp recently introduced disappearing voice messages, which can be viewed only once by the recipient.
