Muscat: Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Rashdi inaugurated the "Van Life Oman" facility, dedicated to the conversion of buses into mobile caravans, within the Wilayat of Barka, located in the South Al Batinah Governorate. This establishment specializes in the transformation of buses into authorized mobile caravans, equipped with a contemporary design that meets all the necessary criteria for travel.
Al Rashdi elaborated, "The genesis of this project can be traced back to the premises of my residence, where the initial conversion of a four-wheel drive vehicle into a mobile tourist caravan marked the beginning of this endeavor. Over the past five years, I have been continuously refining and expanding this passion. Our inaugural factory was established with management entirely from Oman, and has since grown to employ over 20 staff members."
He further explained, "The journey of a mobile caravan involves several phases, starting with the selection of the bus. Subsequently, we engage in a detailed consultation with the customer to understand their requirements for furniture and decorations. Following this, a three-dimensional design is crafted, which is then submitted for preliminary approval from the relevant authorities, permitting the caravan to be operated and transported."
"The transformation from a bus to a caravan typically spans three months, from the moment of agreement until the caravan is ready for delivery to the customer."
Al Rashdi confirmed that the facility has received over 30 buses from the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. A significant portion of the tools used in the conversion process are locally manufactured, with a minor percentage imported from abroad. Additionally, the facility offers maintenance and repair services for certain components and the addition of various accessories. The caravan is designed to accommodate a small family, featuring sleeping beds, a kitchen, air conditioning, lighting, and energy sources from a combination of electric generators, solar energy, and home charging stations.
