Mussanah—The College of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-AL Mussanah, in partnership with Be’ah, Oman Environmental Service Holding Company, organized a beach cleanup event at Mussanah Beach. This initiative aimed to enhance environmental awareness and sustainability while encouraging student involvement in community service.
Tourism and Hospitality students participated with enthusiasm, motivated by the desire to support efforts in maintaining a clean coastal environment, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The primary goal of the event was to highlight the importance of sustainability and the cleanliness of coastal areas, while promoting environmental stewardship among students. Through their involvement, participants gained valuable insights into the effects of pollution on marine ecosystems and learned about effective waste management practices.
The event commenced at 8:30 AM, with students arriving equipped with gloves, garbage bags, and cleaning tools. They worked diligently to collect plastic waste, litter, and other debris from the beach, ensuring its cleanliness. Faculty members joined the students, providing guidance on proper waste segregation and disposal techniques.
Throughout the morning, students collaborated and engaged in practical learning experiences that deepened their understanding of sustainability and responsible tourism. This initiative not only contributed to environmental conservation but also fostered a heightened sense of social responsibility among the students. They were educated on the long-term advantages of such activities and their role in supporting the nation’s overarching sustainability objectives.
