Dhaka: A nine-member Indian delegation, headed by BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chowdhury, has arrived in Dhaka to participate in the 56th Border Conference of the Director Generals of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF), scheduled from August 25 to 28, as stated by BGB on Monday.
The Indian delegation comprises senior officials from the BSF along with representatives from the Indian Home and External Affairs Ministries, the statement noted.
Upon their arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday afternoon (August 25), the Indian delegation was welcomed by BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, according to the statement.
The official proceedings of the 56th BGB-BSF Director General-level border conference will commence on Tuesday morning at the BGB headquarters in Peelkhana, Dhaka. This four-day conference is set to conclude on August 28, as mentioned in the statement.
Previously, in February, the 55th Director General-Level Border Coordination Conference between the BSF and BGB took place in New Delhi, where high-ranking delegations from both countries convened to address significant border-related matters and foster cooperation.
As per a post on X by the BSF, the conference was officially launched with a welcome from BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary to Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, DG of BGB, along with the Bangladeshi delegation at Delhi Airport.
The bilateral conference serves as a crucial institutional framework designed to enhance border management and uphold peace and harmony along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
"The 55th BSF-BGB DIRECTOR GENERAL LEVEL BORDER CO-ORDINATION CONFERENCE - 2025 is set to take place in New Delhi from 17-20 February 2025. Sh Daljit Singh Chawdhary, DG BSF, warmly welcomed Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, OSP, BSP, SUP, BGBM, ndc, psc, M Phil, DG BGB, along with the Border Guard Bangladesh delegation at IGI airport, New Delhi today. The DG BGB is leading the BGB delegation to engage in discussions and deliberations on border-related matters and to foster improved coordination between the two Border Guarding Forces," the post stated.
