Upon HM Directives, Shura Council To Open 2nd Annual Sitting On 10 November

Muscat: In accordance with the Royal Orders issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Shura Council is scheduled to convene its second annual session, spanning the 2024-2025 term of the Tenth Term (2023-2027), in alignment with the stipulations outlined in Article (41) of the Council of Oman Law (7/2021).

Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, the Secretary General of the Shura Council, issued a statement expressing the Council's commitment to aligning with the national aspirations within the Sultanate of Oman.

"The Shura Council has further solidified its role in advancing the nation's holistic development through the effective realization of the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, integration with state institutions, and the mobilization of community participation in the national decision-making process," Al Nadabi elaborated.

Regarding the agenda for the inaugural session of the second annual session, Al Nadabi mentioned that it will focus on the discussion and endorsement of the draft law on special economic zones and free zones, which has been forwarded to the Council by the government. Additionally, the session will address the responses to inquiries submitted by the Council members.

Furthermore, the Council members will receive an update on the draft budget of the State for the Fiscal Year 2025, currently under review by the Council's Economic Committee and Financial Committee.

Al Nadabi highlighted the Council's commitment to maintaining transparency and direct engagement with the media, announcing a press conference scheduled for November 5, 2024, to be attended by media representatives and legislative affairs specialists. The purpose of this gathering is to elucidate various facets of the Council's operations, including its legislative roles and recent achievements in the context of Oman Vision 2040, in accordance with the competencies delineated in the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman.
