The University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Mussanah is poised to initiate the “Oman IoT & AI Challenge 2025” on Wednesday, February 12. This event will gather innovators and leaders in the realms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) from across the Sultanate of Oman. The competition underscores the university’s dedication to fostering technological innovation, encouraging entrepreneurship, and equipping young talents for both regional and international contests.
The semi-final stage is scheduled for Wednesday at the UTAS Mussanah campus, with the esteemed patronage of H.E Dr. Juma bin Khalifa Al Busaidi, a Member of the State Council. University students and entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to present their groundbreaking projects to a specialized panel of judges. The competition will culminate in a grand finale in May 2025 at Barceló Resort in the Wilayat of Mussanah, where the finalist teams will vie for the titles of “Best Graduation Project” and “Best Startup” in the fields of AI and IoT. The winners will earn the privilege of representing Oman at the "Arab IoT & AI Challenge" in the United Arab Emirates.
Engaging in this event offers a distinctive platform for participants to display their innovations to academics, industry experts, and business leaders, potentially leading to collaborations and future advancements. The competition features three primary tracks: the Graduation Project Presentations, where students demonstrate innovative solutions in AI and IoT; the Startup Prototype Exhibition, which allows entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to investors and experts; and the Scientific Poster Challenge, which showcases new research concepts that could propel technological progress.
The initiative is in line with Oman Vision 2040, which emphasizes innovation and advanced technology as essential components of sustainable development. This competition is vital in motivating students and innovators to create technology-based solutions that tackle national issues in healthcare, education, economic diversification, and the sustainability of natural resources.
