Transport Ministry Posts OMR30 Million Revenues In 2023

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology recorded a significant increase in its financial revenues, reaching approximately OMR30 million by the end of 2023. This represents a remarkable growth of 66 percent compared to the figures of the previous year, 2022.

During the same period, the Ministry fulfilled its commitment to the private sector by disbursing over OMR216 million for ongoing development projects under its supervision. Fahd Salim Al Hinai, the Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry, emphasized the Ministry's dedication to settling its dues to the private sector through the Unified Financial System of the Ministry of Finance.

Al Hinai highlighted that these payments were made to cover the Ministry's responsibilities in various areas, including road construction, maintenance, and repairing damages caused by recent climatic conditions. Additionally, the Ministry successfully settled dues related to digital transition projects and initiatives in the communications and information technology sector.

Furthermore, the Ministry demonstrated its commitment to capacity building and professional development by implementing 230 programs and training workshops throughout 2023. These activities encompassed specialized, general, administrative, and technical programs, as well as leadership and distance training programs.

Al Hinai stated that in 2023, over 1,916 employees of the Ministry were able to take advantage of specialized workshops both locally and internationally. Additionally, the Ministry introduced initiatives aimed at streamlining and expediting the implementation and evaluation processes of training programs, with the ultimate goal of ensuring high-quality service delivery and performance.

Furthermore, Al Hinai mentioned that throughout the year 2023, the Ministry welcomed the services of 103 new employees. Among them, 78 individuals were hired on permanent employment contracts, while 25 were designated as members of the 'house of expertise'. It is worth noting that the Ministry successfully Omanised 97 percent of technical positions during this period.
