Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has finished the first stage of a collaborative national effort between the government, the TRA, and licensees to enhance telecommunications services available in underserved geographical regions known as Comprehensive Service Areas.
The goal of the initiative is to improve the quality of services offered to people in regions experiencing infrastructural and coverage issues.
The project focuses on utilizing the funds saved from delaying increases in royalty rates that are often levied during the transfer of telecommunication station connections from 'satellite technology' to 'fibre optics'. This method will improve telecommunication tower performance while also providing a more dependable and stable user experience.
The effort creates possibilities for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to build firms and deliver services in Comprehensive Service Areas, such as telecommunications, maintenance, and project management.
The program will also enable SMEs to create direct and indirect job prospects via the execution of linked projects.
