Muscat: Today, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology formalized three strategic agreements focused on enhancing roads, ports, and maritime services. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of road infrastructure and to advance port and maritime services.
The agreements were executed by Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The first agreement, established with Galfar Engineering and Contracting, involves the development of a 30-kilometer dual carriageway project connecting Izki and Nizwa in the A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The second agreement, signed with Manji International Ports, aims to strengthen the ports sector through investments in the design, construction, management, and operation of a port dedicated to the transportation of quarry products in the Wilayat of Shaleem W’Al Halaniyat Islands.
The third agreement focuses on creating an investment framework for the operation, management, and development of ship supply and crew change services at Port Sultan Qaboos. This agreement, made with Omani Integrated Logistic Services (ILS Oman), is intended to support the Ministry's objectives to enhance Omani ports, reinforce the role of Port Sultan Qaboos in the maritime sector, and promote development at the port by attracting commercial activities that complement its primary function as a tourist destination.
