Survey Of Fishery Resources Ongoing

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources is currently undertaking a survey project to investigate the fisheries resources in the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman.

This survey is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to ensure the sustainable utilization of fisheries in the future.

The main objective of the project is to gather detailed information on the fish population in Oman's seas, including estimates on their size, seasonal distribution, and overall availability.

Additionally, the project aims to collect environmental and physical data that will contribute to a better understanding of the biodiversity and environmental diversity in the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman.

Dr. Dawood bin Sulaiman Al Yahyaei, the Director General of fisheries research at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, emphasized the importance of this national project in preserving the sustainability of sea resources. He also highlighted the significance of the collected information in developing optimal and sustainable utilization plans, as well as the policies necessary for the preservation of sea resources.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Yahyaei stated that the survey and exploration of fisheries resources in the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman will play a crucial role in enhancing food security and identifying the appropriate seasons for fishing bans.
