The Municipal Council of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate convened its fourth meeting for 2025 on Monday, led by Dr. Yahya Badr Al Maawali, the Governor and Chairman of the Council.
During the meeting, various developmental initiatives and service projects within the governorate were discussed.
One of the key topics was the proposed "Al Sharq Gateway" project, which aims to establish the governorate as a significant regional hub. The council also evaluated a plan to create an integrated tourism waterfront along the coast, intended to improve tourism infrastructure and bolster recreational and economic activities.
Furthermore, the council considered a request to reassess land usufruct allocations to ensure the protection of the marine environment and natural resources, while promoting sustainable ecotourism. This initiative aims to enhance the governorate’s appeal as a distinctive tourist destination.
