Muscat: On Wednesday, the Shura Council welcomed Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, the Minister of Education, for discussions regarding the policies and quality of school education, the development of human resources, and the state of private education in the Sultanate of Oman.
These discussions occurred during the 7th regular session of the Council's second sitting in its 10th Term.
Dr. Madiha emphasized that, with the backing of the government and the Royal directives from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the educational landscape in Oman is advancing significantly towards achieving the desired quality of education.
She highlighted that the government has allocated a budget of OMR27.4 million for the digital transition project, which is a national priority.
This initiative aims to enhance the digital education system and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to leverage technological programs and applications within educational curricula, teaching methodologies, administrative frameworks, and digital infrastructure in public schools, according to Dr. Madiha.
She expressed optimism that the new educational quality assurance system will be implemented in the upcoming academic year (2025/2026). The Ministry has aligned all evaluation tools with the standards established by the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education. This system will encompass assessments of school performance, personal development, teaching effectiveness, the learning environment, as well as leadership, management, and governance.
Dr. Madiha emphasized that the effectiveness of the educational system results from a cohesive partnership within the community, involving all sectors of society. This collaboration aims to enhance education in the Sultanate of Oman and secure a promising future for the younger generations.
The session was graced by the presence of Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council.
