Ships Handled By Shinas Port Jumps By 41% To 707

Shinas: Shinas Port, located in the South Al Batinah Governorate, has emerged as a key strategic port in the Sultanate of Oman, experiencing significant growth in 2024.

Statistics indicate a notable rise in the movement of vessels, goods, and livestock, underscoring the port's essential contribution to the national economy and the enhancement of both regional and international trade.

Khater bin Ali Al Maamari, the Executive Director of Shinas Port, reported that the port managed a total of 707 ships last year, marking a 41% increase compared to 2023.

He also noted that the port processed over 100,000 tonnes of goods, valued at more than OMR 11.5 million, encompassing both imports and exports.

Al Maamari disclosed that the port received 91,343 tonnes of imported goods, which included 21,665.98 tonnes of building materials, 4,083.07 tonnes of food items, and 4,273.68 tonnes of general merchandise.

Additionally, he mentioned that livestock and camels accounted for 15,815 tonnes, with a total weight of 469 tonnes.

On the export front, he stated that the port facilitated the shipment of 11,676.12 tonnes of goods, which comprised 461 tonnes of building materials, 33 tonnes of food items, and 8,643 tonnes of general goods. The exports of cattle and camels reached 2,133 tonnes.

This outstanding performance highlights the advancements in the port's infrastructure and the quality of services provided, he added.
