A group of foreigners has been apprehended in the Sultanate of Oman for conducting unlicensed cosmetic surgeries. The Ministry of Health, the Consumer Protection Authority, and the Royal Oman Police collaborated to conduct raids on multiple sites, leading to the arrest of several unlicensed foreign workers who were administering Botox and filler injections. During the operation, a significant amount of syringes and medical supplies were confiscated due to improper storage and lack of authorization from the relevant authorities.
The violators have been detained by the competent authorities in preparation for their referral to the judicial authorities. Furthermore, the Quality Control and Patient Safety Department at the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions, along with judicial officers from the Consumer Protection Authority, successfully apprehended unlicensed female workers in an apartment in Qurm who were also performing Botox and filler injections. Similar to the previous raid, a substantial quantity of syringes and medical supplies stored in an unsafe manner were seized, and the police have detained the offenders to ensure the completion of legal procedures.
The Ministry of Health urges both citizens and residents to seek healthcare services exclusively from government or privately-owned establishments that are licensed by the Ministry. It emphasizes the potential dangers associated with receiving healthcare from unlicensed facilities that are ill-equipped and lack proper regulations. Such risks include severe complications, the transmission of infectious diseases, the use of adulterated materials, and other challenges that should be avoided at all costs.
The Ministry emphasizes the importance of reporting any violations to its experts or to the General Authority for Consumer Protection, as it is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of both citizens and residents. It will take necessary legal actions against any activities that pose a threat to public health or disrupt the smooth functioning of healthcare services.
