Sayyid Fahd Receives Officials From International Civil Aviation Organization

Muscat: Today, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, hosted Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), along with Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO. Their visit coincides with the Civil Aviation Security Conference and the High-Level Ministerial Meeting focused on the Muscat Declaration on Civil Aviation Security, taking place in the Sultanate of Oman, organized by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The conference has attracted over 600 officials and experts from various ICAO member states, marking the first time it is held outside of Montreal.

HH Sayyid Fahd extended a warm welcome to the attendees and highlighted the Sultanate of Oman’s gratitude for ICAO's vital contributions to ensuring security and safety in international air travel. He reiterated Oman’s commitment to collaborating with ICAO in enhancing air navigation and advancing the civil aviation sector to benefit all nations.

The meeting focused on the agenda for the upcoming international conference, particularly emphasizing strategies to strengthen collaboration among nations in civil aviation and to promote the economic growth of air transport. Additionally, discussions included initiatives aimed at supporting airlines and improving airport facilities to enhance passenger safety.

ICAO officials expressed their gratitude for the Sultanate of Oman’s role as the host of the global conference and praised Oman’s leadership in advancing aviation security both regionally and internationally. They recognized Oman’s achievements in developing modern airports and ensuring the highest safety standards for international flights.

Attendees included Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Ma'awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Eng. Nayef Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority.
