Sayyid Badr Holds Meeting With Ambassadors Of EU, UK, Switzerland

Muscat: The Foreign Ministry convened an annual meeting yesterday with ambassadors from the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland.

The session was led by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister.

The discussions focused on reinforcing the strategic partnership among the parties and fostering cooperation that aligns with their mutual interests and sustainable development goals.

Key topics included significant regional and international issues, such as humanitarian crises, security threats, and the impacts of climate change. The meeting also explored strategies to improve food security and promote sustainable energy solutions.

Sayyid Badr emphasized the necessity of enhancing collaborative efforts and international cooperation to tackle these challenges, particularly by leveraging available opportunities and intensifying initiatives aimed at achieving stability and global peace.

The meeting underscored the importance of a collective approach to global challenges, stressing the need to uphold the principle of national sovereignty and the application of international law as essential foundations for conflict resolution and the promotion of sustainable security and development.

The meeting was held as a follow-up to the inaugural GCC-EU Summit that took place in Brussels in October 2024. This summit marked a crucial advancement in strengthening the strategic partnership among member states, focusing on collaborative efforts to tackle shared challenges related to security, economic issues, and climate change.

Khalid Hashel Al Musalhi, the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, along with several officials from the Ministry, participated in the meeting.
