Sayyid Badr Affirms Support For The Ceasefire Agreement In Gaza

Jeddah: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, reaffirmed the country's strong support for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Leading the Omani delegation at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Sayyid Badr called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, the return of displaced civilians, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery across all regions of Gaza.

He cautioned against any efforts to displace Palestinian citizens from their lands or infringe upon their rights.

Additionally, he reiterated Oman's commitment to supporting the initiatives of OIC member states in addressing Israeli aggression, highlighting the necessity for a robust international mechanism to halt violations, safeguard civilians, lift the blockade on Gaza, and hold Israeli officials accountable for war crimes.

The extraordinary OIC meeting was chaired by Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations and current Chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, with participation from various foreign ministers.

Oman's delegation included Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbours Department, and Minister Plenipotentiary Salem bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi, Consul General of Oman and Deputy Permanent Representative to the OIC in Jeddah, along with other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the sidelines of the extraordinary OIC meeting in Jeddah, Sayyid Badr also held discussions with Dr. Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The dialogue focused on the bilateral relations between the two nations, exploring avenues to strengthen mutual cooperation while sharing perspectives on the swiftly changing regional and global landscape. The participants underscored the significance of dialogue and diplomatic initiatives in seeking peaceful and equitable resolutions to various conflicts and disputes, aiming to foster security, stability, and peace for all.

Sayyid Badr also held discussions with Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where they exchanged insights on multiple regional and international issues.

The two ministers addressed the facets of diplomatic collaboration between their countries, reaffirming their dedication to ongoing support and the advancement of economic and investment partnerships, as well as cultural and scientific cooperation initiatives.

Several officials from both delegations were present during the meetings.
