Mumbai: In a significant move to bolster India's capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, announced a collaboration between Reliance Industries and NVIDIA aimed at establishing state-of-the-art AI infrastructure within the nation. This announcement was made during the NVIDIA AI Summit 2024, which took place in Mumbai.
Huang declared, "To lead in the field of artificial intelligence, one must possess not only AI model technology but also ample data and robust AI infrastructure. We are pleased to announce that Reliance Industries and NVIDIA are joining forces to develop AI infrastructure in India. The ability to create this infrastructure rapidly is one of India's significant advantages, primarily due to its vast user base."
Mukesh Ambani, the Managing Director of Reliance Industries, expressed confidence in India's potential, stating, "India is poised to become one of the leading markets for intelligence. This is not merely a goal; it is a reflection of India's rich talent pool and its inherent drive. The young population in India is a powerful force that propels the intelligence sector forward. Our aim is to leverage this intelligence for our domestic markets and to extend our services globally."
Ambani continued, "Indians will not only be leading CEOs in the global market but will also be providing AI services that contribute to a better world. This vision is in line with India's shift from a software-focused export model to becoming a global leader in AI exports."
Huang echoed Ambani's vision, stating, "India has traditionally been known for its software exports. However, the future lies in exporting AI. I am committed to partnering with all of you to ensure India's central role in this new industrial revolution."
Ambani further highlighted, "The leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in transforming India into a premier digital society has been crucial and continues to drive innovation at the grassroots level."
He added, "India is rapidly emerging as a global innovation hub, not just in terms of its current position but also in its potential for future growth."
Ambani concluded, "India is on the cusp of a new era of intelligence, driven by both technological advancements and the aspirations of its people. This is a pivotal moment in India's history, and I am confident that we are at the forefront of this new intelligence age."
Mr. Ambani underscored India's strong digital infrastructure, stating, "In addition to possessing the requisite infrastructure, we have been fortunate to have a connectivity infrastructure that is comparable to that of roads. I am of the belief that, in conjunction with the United States and China, India boasts the most superior digital connectivity infrastructure globally, encompassing 4G, 5G, and broadband services."
