Muscat: A collective of expatriates has been detained in Saham, within the North Al Batinah Governorate, as a result of a violent altercation that was recorded on video. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has taken custody of the individuals following the dissemination of a video that documented the incident.
In a statement issued by the ROP, it was reported that "The North Al Batinah Governorate Police Command, in collaboration with the Special Tasks Police Unit in Saham, has taken action against a group of individuals of Asian descent following the circulation of a video that captured their participation in a widespread brawl within a market, leading to disturbances among the public."
The ROP has affirmed that legal proceedings are presently in progress against those implicated in the altercation.
