Pact To Link Government Tenders With Local Products

MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), through its Industrial Innovation Academy, has recently entered into a collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Tender Board. The objective of this partnership is to establish a connection between government tenders and local products, with the aim of bolstering the industrial sector and promoting the utilization of local resources in government projects, contracts, and procurement.

The agreement was officially signed by Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), Eng Dawood bin Salim al Hadabi, CEO of Madayn, and Eng Badr bin Salim al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board.

Under the terms of this collaboration, government tenders will be integrated with local products through the utilization of the "Rabt Platform". This platform, developed by the Industrial Innovation Academy, serves as a unified and intelligent data platform that facilitates the connection between existing industries in industrial cities, special economic zones, and free zones with government tenders.

The platform is dedicated to promoting local products and services by incorporating them into tender documents through the Bill of Quantities, thus giving them priority in government procurement processes. It also evaluates the offerings of companies in the industrial sector to assess their potential and foster connections with other businesses and sectors.

Furthermore, the platform is committed to fostering growth in the industrial sector and increasing local content in the Sultanate of Oman. This is achieved through the implementation and management of a Decision Support System (DSS) for tender awards, the establishment of an innovation-driven Omani local content accreditation system, and the improvement of Oman's standing in the Global Competitiveness Index.

Additionally, the platform offers a range of services such as identifying new investment opportunities, facilitating networking among factories, connecting local products with government tenders and procurement, and calculating the ICV contribution rate.
