Muscat - In an effort to promote camel racing in the Sultanate, representatives from Oxy Oman recently attended the Adam Camel Race in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. This race, organized by the Oman Camel Racing Federation and sponsored exclusively by Oxy Oman, is the second of three races in the series.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Hilal Bin Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, the event was graced by the presence of Sheikh Said Bin Saud Al Ghufili, Chairman of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, and Nasser Bin Issa Al Maskari, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Occidental Oman.
With over 500 attendees, the race consisted of 10 rounds, and five winners were ultimately declared. As part of their sponsorship agreement, Oxy Oman presented each winner with a vehicle prize.
Furthermore, Oxy Oman will also be awarding prizes to the five winners of the upcoming Ibri Camel Race, which is scheduled to take place in January 2024. These races play a crucial role in supporting the camel racing industry, benefiting an estimated 2000 individuals in local communities, including trainers, camel owners, hotels, small and medium enterprises, workers in livestock and veterinary clinics, and local shops.
Over the past nine years, Oxy Oman has sponsored a total of 33 camel races, recognizing the cultural significance of this sport to the local communities. This sponsorship is a testament to Oxy Oman's commitment to strengthening its social ties with the communities in its concession areas and the wider Omani population, while also fostering strategic partnerships and continuous collaboration with key stakeholders.
