Oman's Healthcare Satisfaction At 73.4%

MUSCAT: The findings from the National Centre for Statistics and Information's (NCSI) comprehensive community satisfaction survey, which spanned from September 19, 2023, to October 9, 2023, have revealed an overall satisfaction rate of 73.4 percent concerning the healthcare system. This indicates a generally positive perception of the sector among the community.

The NCSI conducted an in-depth survey focused on community satisfaction with healthcare services, aiming to capture a thorough understanding of public opinion regarding various facets of healthcare services in Oman.

Upon analyzing the overall satisfaction levels, the survey highlighted several critical areas.

Health Status of Institutions: The satisfaction rate concerning the health status of institutions stood at 68.3 percent. This metric reflects the community's perspective on the quality, cleanliness, and overall environment of healthcare facilities. It suggests that while a majority of the community is satisfied with the services provided, there is a need for improvement to ensure that institutions adhere to higher standards of health and hygiene.

Doctor Satisfaction: The satisfaction rate for doctors was 73.8 percent, indicating the community's approval of the doctors' competence, professionalism, and other aspects of their performance. This rating underscores the community's trust in the medical expertise available and points to potential areas for enhancing the doctor-patient relationship.

Nurse Satisfaction: Nurses achieved a satisfaction rate of 75.4 percent, signifying their high value within the community. This rating highlights the essential role nurses play in patient care, from providing daily assistance and support to their professional expertise in managing patient health. The high satisfaction rate reflects the community's appreciation for the nurses' dedication and hard work.

Pharmacist Satisfaction: Pharmacists received the highest satisfaction rating at 76.2 percent, indicating the community's high regard for the accessibility, knowledge, and service provided by pharmacists. This rating underscores the crucial role pharmacists play in the healthcare system, not only in dispensing medications but also in offering advice and ensuring the safety of medications.

The results of the survey serve as a testament to the efforts of healthcare providers in Oman. However, they also offer valuable insights for the National Centre for Statistics and Information and other stakeholders. By examining these indicators, the centre aims to identify areas where healthcare services can be enhanced. This includes improving the conditions of healthcare facilities, fostering better interactions between doctors and patients, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring that pharmacists can continue to provide high-quality services.
