Muscat: Etlaq has issued a formal statement concerning the forthcoming launch of the Sultanate of Oman's inaugural space rocket, scheduled for December 2024. It has been clarified that the launch will not be open to the public.
The organization has stated: “In light of the recent media coverage regarding the announcement of a space launch at Etlaq Spaceport in December 2024, Etlaq wishes to clarify that, in compliance with local regulations and international safety protocols, we are in the process of supporting the launch of an experimental launch vehicle by the end of 2024.”
The organization further explained that the organization is coordinating the launch in collaboration with various governmental entities, including the Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT, the National Space Program, the Civil Aviation Authority, NASCOM, and other relevant institutional stakeholders.
The organization also expressed regret for the announcement that the launch will not be open to the public. It acknowledged the public's interest in learning more about this significant national achievement and stated that it plans to disseminate more information following the launch.
