Tokyo: The Omani-Japanese Investment Forum, which took place on Monday in Tokyo, examined options for collaboration as well as prospects for strengthening economic and investment ties between the two countries.
The event drew participation from officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion and the Ministry of Health, as well as company owners and investors from both countries.
This occurred during a visit to Japan by a delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), headed by Rashid Amer Al Maslahi, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors.
Al Maslahi emphasized the forum's significance in discovering possible commerce and investment prospects between the two countries, stating that the OCCI is committed to encouraging and strengthening economic ties between the Omani and Japanese markets.
He emphasized that private-sector collaboration between the two countries has grown significantly over the last 50 years, with bilateral trade increasing by 7% in 2024 compared to 2023, demonstrating the depth and strength of commercial relations.
Oman's exports to Japan include crude oil, natural gas, aluminum, and fisheries items such as squid, tuna, and green beans, whereas imports from Japan include automobiles, machinery, electrical equipment, and vehicle spare parts.
According to Al Maslahi, the OCCI delegation's visit to Japan seeks to empower the Omani private sector and investigate potential prospects in information technology, renewable energy, the circular economy, transportation and logistics, and manufacturing.
Dr. Mohammed Said Al Busaidi, Oman's Ambassador to Japan, emphasized the importance of the Omani-Japanese Investment Forum in promoting commercial and economic relations, particularly in industry, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, food security, tourism, services, and renewable and traditional energy.
The event also included numerous visual presentations on chances to improve bilateral trade, Oman's investment environment, key incentives for investors in a variety of economic sectors, and investment prospects in the healthcare sector, including important national projects.
Furthermore, the forum featured a meeting between the OCCI First Deputy Chairman and the delegation leader with many Japanese firms interested in the Omani market, as well as bilateral negotiations, networking events, and business-to-business meetings between Omani and Japanese companies.
