Muscat: In collaboration with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), a firm hailing from Oman known as RAID (Robotics & AI Development), a novel solar cell cleaning robot was unveiled.
This invention is a local solution designed to enhance the performance and sustainability of solar power plants by autonomously cleaning solar cells as required.
Abdulrahman Affan Al Hajji, the esteemed Head of the RAID Company, highlighted that the solar cell cleaning robot represents a groundbreaking innovation, both designed and produced domestically, capable of efficiently cleaning extensive solar cell installations.
Al Hajji further emphasized the project's goal to reduce labor intensity and circumvent the hazards associated with manual cleaning processes.
He noted that the robot underwent rigorous testing at PDO, resulting in 'high efficiency' outcomes.
The robot successfully cleaned over 700 solar panels, emerging as a versatile instrument capable of operating under various weather conditions.
This, he observed, would guarantee sustainability in performance, substantiated by the technology's role in minimizing water consumption for cleaning, augmenting solar energy unit productivity, and diminishing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
