Muscat: On Thursday, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced that the culprits in the Wadi Kabir shooting event were identified as three Omani brothers. Security agencies managed to neutralize all three of them.
"The Royal Oman Police is dedicated to keeping the public updated on the progress of the shooting event at Wadi Al Kabir. It has been officially announced that the three individuals responsible for the event were brothers from Oman who ultimately lost their lives due to their confrontations with security forces. Preliminary investigations suggest that they were motivated by wrong beliefs," mentioned in a statement from the ROP.
The ROP also thanks everyone for their ongoing support, alertness, and commitment to the safety and protection of their country.
In a press release, the ROP highlighted the cooperation among police, military, and security units in addressing the situation. "The Royal Oman Police and the military and security forces have successfully completed the actions needed to manage the shooting event that took place in the Wadi Al Kabir region of Muscat, Oman," was the content of the release. "Further investigations into the matter are in progress."
Several members of the police force, Civil Defence, and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) were among the casualties. All the wounded individuals have been moved to different medical facilities for care.
The investigating authorities are working to unearth additional information about the incident.
